After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Community Mental Health Affiliates (CMHA), New Britain, Connecticut, agreed to pay $130,240.98 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that CMHA employed an individual that it knew or should have known was excluded from participation in Federal health care programs. In addition, CMHA charged the individual’s salary expenses to a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration award, which were unallowable because the individual was excluded.

How Crucible Prevents This

Crucible's automated OIG-LEIE exclusion screening runs monthly against the full employee roster, flagging matches immediately and enforcing hiring workflow gates that prevent onboarding excluded individuals.
