After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Community Mental Health Affiliates (CMHA), New Britain, Connecticut, agreed to pay $130,240.98 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that CMHA employed an individual that it knew or should have known was excluded from participation in Federal health care programs. In addition, CMHA charged the individual’s salary expenses to a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration award, which were unallowable because the individual was excluded.
